The Groundhog Run is Children's TLC's major annual fundraiser, founded by Van Cooper, a long-time volunteer and board member of Children's TLC.   2008 marks the 26th running of this race, which draws participants from all over the United States.  Since 1983, this annual event has raised over $2.9 million, with 100% benefiting support Children's TLC programs.

The Groundhog Run is a unique racing event, believed to be the only 5k/10k in the nation that is totally underground, a distinction made possibly by the continued generosity of Hunt Midwest Enterprises.  With a constant temperature of 65 - 68 degrees year-round, it is an idea venue for the over 3,000 runners who participate in this event. 

The Groundhog Run has been ranked as one of the top 65 races in America by Runner's World magazine.  The race is directed by the Mid-America Running Association.  The 10K race is part of the MARA Grand Prix series.  ChampionChip timing will again be utilized in this year's race to provide accurate and timely race results.
